...and all who dwell on earth will worship [the beast], everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain. (Revelation 13:8).
Revelation 13:8 states that those whose names have been written in the book of life will not worship the beast but everyone else will. Two things are striking about those whose names are written in the book of life. First, there names were written before the foundation of the world or to put it another way before Genesis 1. God chose his people before the foundation of the world - this is dealing with the doctrine of election (Ephesians 1:4).
The second thing is that this book of life is further described as the book of life of the Lamb that was slain. The names of the saints/elect who are written before the foundation of the world are written in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain. In other words God's eternal plans for this world, even before this world was created, included the salvation of his people and the death of Jesus (Acts 2:23, 1 Peter 1:20, 2 Timothy 1:9-10).
Good Friday was no plan B or alternate course of action in God's mind. It was why there was a creation in the first place.
